Death had stroked Love’s hair
Eons and millenniums ago-
Waiting for her to come to his realm
Waiting for Love with open hands
….
Love and Hope-
Sisters for life
Harmony and love-
Through heartbreak and strife
….
Death grows weary for Love is declining
Death has sinister intentions to steal
The love and life-
of Love herself
The one who can make or break
a life or dream
Never sure of what to do
Never a steady stream
Hope has been taken-
Is all hope lost?
For she has left
…
Love-
striding into Deaths welcoming arms
Staring into his eyes with a fire like none other
His raspy voice echoed again and again
“You would have to come beautiful maiden, sooner or later, so be it”
He crooned at her, with sinister sweetness
Where is Hope? Oh where has she gone?
Love had fire in her eyes and spoke-
With fury and rage dripping of of it
I will never lose Hope-
For she is still here. With me
May the tallest mountains and widest rivers break us apart
That may happen-
But we are one. Love and Hope will always overcome you
Death’s once radiant smile transformed into a glowering simper
“What did you say, fair maiden of May?”
Love replied with a small voice, trembling with fury
“I will overcome you”
Death’s words and request, more force
Loves, with more defiance
Death had summoned Hope
Warily, she came
Put in shackles
Her spirit broken
Once smooth and beautiful
She was gray and gritty soon
Once adorned with silky black hair
Tattered like grimy rags
Once copper skin-
Dust filled and frail
Flinching at the lightest breath
Hope’s eyes met Love’s
“Sister… revive me”
Love was joyful-
Her sister- alive and well!
Death, glowering-
from his mask-
for none had escaped him before
He gave each sister-
wishes. In total four
Love asked to never be trouble by Death
To be free from his wrath
Hope wished for all together the same
And Love had wished, for no more strife
Looking for Hope had cut her deep like a knife
Hope had no wishes to be granted-
She merely wished for two trees to be planted
These two trees must be nurtured and strong
Given a strong bond
Like mine and Love’s
With that, she said goodbye
